Getting started

The Movement Mapping Tool helps organisers build a shared picture of the relationships, organisations, and capabilities in their movement — and then explore that picture analytically.

  • Create maps of organisations, people, and concepts and the connections between them.
  • Import data from a spreadsheet (CSV or Excel) instead of entering it by hand.
  • Run a collective braindump — a free-form editing mode for adding and arranging nodes and connections in a workshop.
  • Visualise the network in different ways: topology, betweenness centrality, and capabilities.
  • Save views and keep a revision history so you can return to an earlier state of a map.
  • Work as an organisation — invite collaborators and manage who can do what.

Everything lives inside an organisation (your workspace). Maps are owned by the organisation, not by individuals, so your collaborators can pick up where you left off. See Core concepts for the vocabulary, then head to Creating & managing maps.

After you sign in, the dashboard lists your organisation’s maps and any pending invitations waiting for you to accept. Organisation admins see controls there to create, rename, and delete maps, plus a link to Manage organisation for inviting and managing members — see Workspace & collaborators. Your Settings page (top-right of the dashboard) holds your display name and preferences.
